Reframing a Nation’s Story
The National Museum of Singapore was undergoing the challenge of revamping its core Singapore History Gallery to reflect a nation that had evolved significantly since its last update in 2015. The new master plan needed to incorporate a decade of new historical research and respond to the public desire for more inclusive, diverse, and personal story telling.
The main challenge was to transform the gallery from a static, institutional voice into a dynamic, living conversation. Our guiding question became: “How can this physical space empower the diverse people of Singapore to see themselves in their nation’s story?” This required a deeply evidence-based and user-centered research strategy to redefine the museum’s narrative from the ground up, ensuring the new design would be relevant and resonant for the next generation.
